When I read, I usually try to read in a quiet place. But when I do read I end up reading in a place that’s too quiet and I end up falling asleep. So, if I read some place quiet it would have to be in like a library where its people around me because if I’m at home I will fall asleep. So my typical reading environment would have to be some place not too noisy but not too quiet. So I have to read with some music or some mini conversations going on in the same room I’m in. When it comes to reading, I read at a steady pace. I read like that so I will comprehend what the book main points are. I am also the type of reader that has to read at my own speed/pace. For example, when a teacher gives me and expects me to read 5 chapters to read in a day or two. Even though it usually takes me about a week or a week in a half to read a book, that’s if the book is not interesting, I need to read it at my own pace. Some books that teachers assign make me really bored to the point where I don’t want to read another book they assign. The kind of books that keeps me interested is urban books. I think they keep me interested because they are books that speak the language that we speak today and they have some stories that people are dealing with today.
Ashley, I love the details in this blog. We're going to spend some time this semester talking about how different reading assignments require different levels of participation from readers.
